Our blog talks about the techniques and insights behind the art of Fine Woodworking.
We just completed a 60"w x 30"h cherry dining table for some clients that wanted the ability to flip the center portion of the table to convert it into a felt poker table when needed. Table is completed and just went to our finishing shop, here are a few pictures of the project in progress before finishing and Felt , I'll add more after it comes back from the finisher.
All Cherry on one side
The Flip Cherry border with FELT in the center
And there you have it ...
I will add a few more pictures in a week or so when the Finishing is completed and the Felt is Installed.
Hope everyone has an amazing week :-) Patrick

Our client in Mountain View had a fireplace insert that needed a little help. The addition of the Granite helped quite a bit, but it still needed a little pop, so he asked us to build a Cherry Fireplace Mantle to surround the Granite and cover-up all of the drywall. The Pictures below show the mantle when completed and the Video allows you to walk around the unit and see the details.

We just completed a small project where the client had an open display cabinet that was quite ornate and she wanted to simplify the design to match the rest of her interior and add some glass doors, glass shelves and a few lights.
Here are the before, during and after photos.
Below shows the BEFORE This is DURING the modification
and below shows the completed Pictures with lights off and lights on
And here are a few close-ups of the details.
And Here is the Finished Product ... ...
Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks, Patrick
Another Palo Alto Craftsman Style renovation nears completion as the clients move in. We are still working on a new front porch and steps to complete the project but here are some pictures of the completed interior. We opened up the walls, framed and added a few rooms, built and installed new cabinets throughout the house, as well as the custom closets, windows and doors. Re finished the stairway and floors, added new drywall, siding, and moldings and re-painted the entire house inside and out.
Just delivered a cabinet that will be the new home for a model of a cutter ship. The Cabinet is made of Solid Cherry and has beveled glass on the front as well as a glass top and sides and the back is a pair of mirrored doors to allow access.
It took 2 years for our client to build this model in his spare time and he wanted a safe place to house
it behind glass. We were pleased to be part of this project :-)

Our man Anthony recently finished building a few custom chairs for a client that wanted to duplicate the Rietveld design. Three chairs were built in a large medium and small format . Below are a few professional photographs
of the chairs that were taken shortly after they were completed. For More pictures CLICK HERE.

Rietveld designed his famous Red and Blue Chair in 1917. Hoping that much of his furniture would eventually be mass-produced rather than handcrafted, Rietveld aimed for simplicity in construction.[4] In 1918, he started his own furniture factory, and changed the chair's colors after becoming influenced by the 'De Stijl' movement, of which he became a member in 1919, the same year in which he became an architect.

We enjoyed being a part of this project. Feel free to give us a call if we can be of any assistance,
Have a great weekend, Patrick
We Just finished installing another bookcase / wall-unit in Mountain View this week. Painted to match the clients color preference. This project enabled the client to make good use of a very large wall to enhance the overall look and feel of the room. With pull-out storage for CD's and DVD's , Pull-out shelves for the components, built-in lighting, and a new look for the old red brick fireplace.
